Judy Kuhn in Metropolis

Hello, gorgeous ones! As some of you might know, one of my favorite Broadway leading ladies happens to me Judy Kuhn. In fact, me and some of my nearest and dearest get together every year to celebrate her birthday. Judy Kuhn had her beginnings doing shows like Rags, Chess, Les Miserables and then became a legend recording the singing voice of Pocahontas. In her earlier years, she made a stop in the London's West End as the lead in a musical of the Fritz Lang silent movie, Metropolis. The musical ran for 6 months in London, which wouldn't be so bad, if the musical hadn't been so expensive. Many people say the book was ridiculous, and it was just all so bizarre, but one thing everyone seems to agree on is that Judy Kuhn was magnificent as Maria/Futura.

For those of you who don't know, Metropolis (the movie and the musical) is about a futuristic world where the powerful and rich live in a perfect city, while many others are workers bellow the city, working machines to keep the city alive. Judy Kuhn plays Maria, the brave, good worker who wants to free the workers, etc. In the show, the bad guy creates a robot clone of her, so La Kuhn flexed her acting chops by playing dual roles. Judy Kuhn's luscious, full-throated voice, soars through this 80s pop-rock musical score. It's a really exciting piece, despite some ridiculous moments, and Judy is just stupendous. I highly recommend checking out the cast recording on iTunes, or listen to this duet from the show! Enjoy!
