True Blood! Getting excited for Season 5!

Hello, gorgeous, vampire loving fans. So, I should start by saying that I...love vampires. Ever since I was a little girl, I have been fascinated by anything relating to them, even though a few bad vampire movies initially scared me...but it only FUELED my love for them. From the Halloween episode of Xena, where Gabrielle gets turned into a vampire, to the Winona Ryder Dracula movie, and THEN the best of all, Buffy, to Angel, to Twilight, (oh and not to mention a handful of flop Broadway vampire musicals) and now I have discovered True Blood and I am falling for vampires all over again.

*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

I started the series and I instantly loved the concept of Vampires existing, announcing their existence to the world and "coming out of the coffin." A world where vampires aren't a big secret and can casually walk around and go to McDonalds?!? Cool! I also liked the assortment of characters at Merlotte's (the bar/restaurant owned by Sam, a shapeshifter), and I instantly identified with Sookie: strangely attractive, awkward, but also weirdly confident, oh and the psychic powers thing.

Obviously over the course of the seasons I formed strong feelings about the characters: who I liked (Jessica, Pam, Lafayette, Russell Edgington, Eric asshole version, Queen Sophie Ann, Maryann, Nan, Hoyt, Jason, etc), who I didn't (Bill, Eric good annoying version, Crystal, Tara, Jesus, Tara's mom, Tommy, Debbie, EGGS, etc) and realized that the writing for the show wasn't always...stellar, but the characters and the world are so fun that it's hard for me not to love it no matter what. Also, despite Sookie being the worst mostly, I love that this girl's first love, Bill, is instantly not anyone's idea of a dream man. He does shady, shady, angry, sneaky things that make him less of a knight in shining armor vampire, like Edward in Twilight. I don't like Bill...at all, and I think he's short, talks weird, and is bad for Sookie, but it's nice to have a leading man/love interest with some major, major flaws that don't just involve guilt.

Anyway, I am just starting the books and I am REALLLLY looking forward to season 5! ALSO, for True Blood fans, I discovered that Jezebel (a great blog), does HILARIOUS episode recaps of True Blood and lists the pros and cons of each episode...they're hilarious, check it out. ALSO, check out the trailer for Season 5!

Joss Whedon writes to his fans/"peeps"

Hello, gorgeous ones. As you probably know, The Avengers opened this weekend to one of the most enormous box office openings of all time (I think $700 million), and one of our favorite writers/directors of all time, Joss Whedon, was the one who brought this movie to life. Joss has had sort of a "cult" following for years, never quite being mainstream, and besides a few successful shows on tv (Buffy, Angel) and movies, was never quite the star all of us know he always was. SO, Joss took some time to write his fans, or "peeps," as he calls us, thanking us and reminding us that he hasn't forgotten the ones who loved his work all this time. YOU ROCK JOSS!

Dear Friends,
Well, it’s been quite a weekend. Someday, long from now, I will even have an emotional reaction to it, like a person would. I can’t wait! But before I become blinded by this “emotion” experience, there’s a few things I’d like to say. Well, type.
People have told me that this matters, that my life is about to change. I am sure that is true. And change is good — change is exciting. I think — not to jinx it — that I may finally be recognized at Comiccon. Imagine! Also, with my percentage of “the Avengers” gross, I can afford to buy… [gets call from agent. Weeps manfully. Resumes typing.] …a fine meal. But REALLY fine, with truffles and s#!+. And I can get a studio to finance my dream project, the reboot of “Air Bud” that we all feel is so long overdue. (He could play Jai Alai! Think of the emotional ramifications of JAI ALAI!!!!)
What doesn’t change is anything that matters. What doesn’t change is that I’ve had the smartest, most loyal, most passionate, most articulate group of — I’m not even gonna say fans. I’m going with “peeps” — that any cult oddity such as my bad self could have dreamt of. When almost no one was watching, when people probably should have STOPPED watching, I’ve had three constants: my family and friends, my collaborators (often the same), and y’all. A lot of stories have come out about my “dark years”, and how I’m “unrecognized”… I love these stories, because they make me seem super-important, but I have never felt the darkness (and I’m ALL about my darkness) that they described. Because I have so much. I have people, in my life, on this site, in places I’ve yet to discover, that always made me feel the truth of success: an artist and an audience communicating. Communicating to the point of collaborating. I’ve thought, “maybe I’m over; maybe I’ve said my piece”. But never with fear. Never with rancor. Because of y’all. Because you knew me when. If you think topping a box office record compares with someone telling you your work helped them through a rough time, you’re probably new here. (For the record, and despite my inhuman distance from the joy-joy of it: topping a box office record is super-dope. I’m an alien, not a robot.) So this is me, saying thank you. All of you. You’ve taken as much guff for loving my work as I have for over-writing it, and you deserve, in this our time of streaming into the main, to crow. To glow. To crow and go “I told you so”, to those Joe Blows not in the know. (LAST time I hire Dr. Seuss to punch my posts up. Yeesh!) Point being, you deserve some honor.

Charisma Carpenter's TV Show Gets 2nd season!

Hello, gorgeous fans! Charisma Carpenter, star of Buffy and Angel has been doing a show this year called The Lying Game. While I haven't seen ONE episode, I do love Charisma Carpenter, especially when she looks like a 40 year old in high school (Buffy season 3). Congrats to Charisma!

Buffy spinoff might happen?!?!

Hello, gorgeous ones. You may or may not know this, but I am an ENORMOUS fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and anything having to do with the series, so this news was very exciting to me. Joss Whedon was recently quoted saying that he and Anthony Stewart Head, who played Giles on the show, could still possibly do a spinoff of the show about his character! Um...YES PLEASE!!! We love Anthony Stewart Head, Giles, and ANYTHING Buffy, so PLEASE make this happen, gods of TV world!

Happy Birthday Sarah Michelle Gellar!

Hello, gorgeous ones! Today is the Birthday of one of my favorite TV actresses: Sarah Michelle Gellar. Sarah changed my life with her soul shattering performances as Buffy Summers on the Joss Whedon TV Series Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Season after season, she brought realism, truly amazing acting, and investment into the show. The thing about Buffy that is so different from other shows like it (Charmed, Vampire Diaries, etc) is that there is so much heart in it. These are real, amazing characters that you care about, and thanks to Sarah Michelle Gellar, Buffy Summer is hard not to care about even when she is being the worst. You cheer for her, you suffer with her, you want her to succeed, and you relate to her issues. Besides Buffy, how can we forget Sarah's performances in Cruel Intentions, I Know What You Did Last Summer, The Grudge, and most recently, Ringer, which I sincerely hope isn't cancelled. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARAH! I WILL ALWAYS ADORE YOU!
