Game of Thrones Rant (Spoilers)

So, I recently discovered the magic that is HBO'S series, Game of Thrones. I don't know why I put it off for so long. I think it might be because I like to wait a few seasons, see if a show lasts and then watch a lot of seasons in a row. That's what I did with True Blood and it was awesome. The thing about some of these HBO shows with lots of characters and different locations with different story-lines is that sometimes not that much will happen to a character over the course of the season, so I find that watching a whole season in a row makes it seem like more happens because you're not waiting a week to see what happens.

Anyway, I am loving this season of Game of Thrones. I love the addition of Natalie Dormer as a more prominent presence (I went wild for her as Anne Boleyn on The Tudors), I love how Daenarys keeps getting stronger and more badass. I'm actually really intrigued by what's going on with Bran and think Osha is a very cool character and like their relationship. I'm also WAY into Lady Brienne and Jaime and love their sort of "unspoken" respect and love for each other. When she was in the bear pit this week and he saved her I totally got choked up. I'm always into Lord Rob Stark, King of the North, who is just so sexy. I wasn't initially into John Snow's story up North, but I like his new ginger girlfriend and think they're cute together. Most of all, I really just want Sansa, Arya and Bran to be reunited with Catelyn and Rob, but it looks like that won't be happening for a while.

I'm very happy with this season, but the one thing that's been really bothering me is the Theon storyline. It finally just became too much for me this week when he was psychologically tortured by whores and then it looks like his peeper cut chopped off at the end of his scene. I have never been into this character and have always resented the amount of screen time he got. This episode particularly pissed me off because HBO thought we needed to be shocked by nudity, and torture rather than actual character development. I mean, Cersei didn't even have a scene this episode and Catelyn has been turned into cranky mother sitting in the corner. I'd even prefer more scenes of Joffrey or even....dare I say...Samwell. I'd rather watch Samwell sing badly to that incest baby than watch Theon. I'm also just not into the actor, never have been. ANYWAY, that is all, would love to hear any thoughts you all have

True Blood Season Finale (SPOILERS!)

Hello, my beautiful, bloodsucking fans! So last night was the season finale of one of my favorite TV shows, TRUE BLOOD! Even though I had some mixed feelings about this season, I have to say I thought it was OODLES better than the previous one. What's so crazy about this show is that in this season only two weeks passed in the True Blood world, so while we're waiting week after week for new episodes, not very much time has gone by in the world of the show.

There seem to be more characters than ever on True Blood, and thankfully a few of them were disposed of last night. I especially enjoyed Sam turning back into a human while in fly form INSIDE the redhead  authority vamp. THAT was cool. RUSSEL IS DEAD and poor Steve Newlin!!! Who will bring him to fraternity bloodbaths now?! I was also THRILLED to see Tara and Pam make out, but even more than that, I LOOOOVED how Pam tried to play it cool when she saw Eric for the first time in maybe A WEEK, and then got positively flustered and girly when he and Sookie went back for Bill. Oh, Pam. You TRY and act all tough, but you just can't help getting vulnerable around viking vampire, Eric. Me too...me too. Also, JASON! Stop making Jessica cry! Hasn't she been through enough this week, what with Hoyt going to Alaska and her vampire daddy acting like a douchebag?!

Just in case anyone was wondering, Bill totally sucks. He tricked Salome into silvering herself, he sent out vamp soldiers, which Jason, with his super police man skills, easily took out (what's going on with him hallucinating his parents?), and then he drank all of Lilith's blood, exploded, made Sookie cry a lot, and then REMATERIALIZED from the PUDDLE OF BLOOOD and is naked and bloody like Lilith...well...maybe I'll hate him less if we get some full frontal in the next season.

Anyway, I don't know quite what the point of this post was, all I know is that I love True Blood, and I can't believe I have to wait a year for more!! UGH!

True Blood! Getting excited for Season 5!

Hello, gorgeous, vampire loving fans. So, I should start by saying that I...love vampires. Ever since I was a little girl, I have been fascinated by anything relating to them, even though a few bad vampire movies initially scared me...but it only FUELED my love for them. From the Halloween episode of Xena, where Gabrielle gets turned into a vampire, to the Winona Ryder Dracula movie, and THEN the best of all, Buffy, to Angel, to Twilight, (oh and not to mention a handful of flop Broadway vampire musicals) and now I have discovered True Blood and I am falling for vampires all over again.

*POSSIBLE SPOILERS*

I started the series and I instantly loved the concept of Vampires existing, announcing their existence to the world and "coming out of the coffin." A world where vampires aren't a big secret and can casually walk around and go to McDonalds?!? Cool! I also liked the assortment of characters at Merlotte's (the bar/restaurant owned by Sam, a shapeshifter), and I instantly identified with Sookie: strangely attractive, awkward, but also weirdly confident, oh and the psychic powers thing.

Obviously over the course of the seasons I formed strong feelings about the characters: who I liked (Jessica, Pam, Lafayette, Russell Edgington, Eric asshole version, Queen Sophie Ann, Maryann, Nan, Hoyt, Jason, etc), who I didn't (Bill, Eric good annoying version, Crystal, Tara, Jesus, Tara's mom, Tommy, Debbie, EGGS, etc) and realized that the writing for the show wasn't always...stellar, but the characters and the world are so fun that it's hard for me not to love it no matter what. Also, despite Sookie being the worst mostly, I love that this girl's first love, Bill, is instantly not anyone's idea of a dream man. He does shady, shady, angry, sneaky things that make him less of a knight in shining armor vampire, like Edward in Twilight. I don't like Bill...at all, and I think he's short, talks weird, and is bad for Sookie, but it's nice to have a leading man/love interest with some major, major flaws that don't just involve guilt.

Anyway, I am just starting the books and I am REALLLLY looking forward to season 5! ALSO, for True Blood fans, I discovered that Jezebel (a great blog), does HILARIOUS episode recaps of True Blood and lists the pros and cons of each episode...they're hilarious, check it out. ALSO, check out the trailer for Season 5!
