Donna Murphy as the Witch?!?!
I'm sorry, I'm too upset to even think!!! Many of you may not know this, but I was signed on to play the Witch in this summer's production of Into the Woods for Shakespeare in The Park, but because of the upcoming production of Bombshell Baby, I had to withdraw. NOW, I find out that Donna Murphy has been cast as the Witch?!?! Meryl Streep I would have been thrilled with, Patti LuPone, would have been epic, Glenn Close, I would have enjoyed her oddly satisfying throaty belting, or how about AUDRA MCDONALD!!! I know she's doing Porgy and Bess, but GEEZ! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Donna Murphy's SOBBED through performance of Fosca in Passion, I saw her in Wonderful Town, The King and I, and thought she added flair to the role of the witch/mother in Tangled, but the thought of her thin, flat voice on that music makes me want to sing in a satisfying belt to drown her out.
