Candlelight Glow makeup review

Hello my glowing fans! So, this is another awesome product by TOO FACED. A LONG time ago I purchased the other version of this, the invisible Candlelight Powder, which used to be sold is more of a highlighter, but now it's an all over powder which...I would think would be awful because there's glitter in it, but maybe the new one is different...anyway. This stuff is really beautiful. I think I may like it as much as the Lorac Luminizing Powder that I like so much. This is very pigmented and you can swirl your brush and get the pearly color with the pink, or you can just use one. I loved TOO FACED's face powders like this. Highly recommended.

Clinique lower lash mascara

Hello, my gorgeous, full-lashed, fans. The product I want to talk to you about today is Clinique's Lower Lash mascara. I wouldn't say this is a MUST HAVE, but it's definitely something I had been wanting for a while and was in Sephora, saw it, remembered I wanted it, and grabbed it. I love a lot of mascara on the lower lashes, but I find myself getting tons of mascara on my perfectly applied concealer under my eye. This mascara has a teeny, tiny brush that really gets the job done. If you like a lot of mascara on the bottom lashes, I recommend this mascara. It's not so expensive either, $10, cheap for a nice brand mascara. 

More Kim Kardashian Makeup

Hello, my gorgeous, contoured fans! So, for years now the makeup world has been jumping on board with the over the top makeup Kim Kardashian wears on a regular basis (Thank god) and now it's okay for women to wear drag makeup. As you can see here, Kim has been DOOONE! For those of you wondering what the hell is going on with her face, let me clue you in. Kim probably has on 2 layers of foundation in two different colors, one for the highlighted area of her face and one for the outer sides where it's more shadowed, and then on top of it she has an even lighter colored concealer which has been put on from the bottom of her nose to her under-eye and brought over and up with her cheekbones. She also has this on her nose, forehead, chin and around her mouth. The whiteness is a LOT of powder  that is being used to set her makeup, then she has an harsh contouring line under her cheekbones. I'm not TOOOTALLY positiv,e but I meant ontop of this she/her makeup artist may even blend this all together with another layer of foundation....sounds like heaven. E.L.F cosmetics! MUST READ for bargain cosmetic hunters!

Hello, my gorgeous, makeup applying fans! So, I've been dreadfully busy with Bombshell Baby, but a week or so back I had placed an order from E.L.F cosmetics and completely forgot about it because I got slow shipping, and it was so incredibly cheap that I wasn't like, "WHERE DID $200 GO out of my account?!" I was so pleasantly surprised today when the package came and there was just an ENORMOUS amount of makeup inside it. Just to put this into perspective...I got 30 things for under $50. Now, let me explain. E.L.F cosmetics is an online only makeup store and they normally have things for $3-$4, and then they even have a line of things for $1. Last week they were having a 50% off sale...so...that's how I got so many things for SO LITTLE.

I had been really skeptical about purchasing from them because none of the "makeup gurus" I watch on youtube have done big E.L.F hauls, but many others have and normally they'd find a few things they liked but it wasn't always spectacular, but when I saw that they were having this insane sale, I just had to go for it. It's a lot of stuff, and I haven't tried it all yet, so I'll start with a few items that caught my eye and review more in the coming days.

I have to say, I like all the lip glosses, besides a fuchsia one called "Funky Fuchsia," which just smells like awful, dentist, bubble gum stuff, but all the other lip glosses are really great. I got a one from the "Pout Perfecter" line called "Miami, which is sort of like a NARS orgasm gloss dupe. I got a "Glitter Gloss" in "Dazzling Diamond," which I like, but maybe not as a lip gloss. I HATE chunky glitter in lip glosses. I think it's weird, but...I might try and use it to set eye shadow...hmmmmm. And then this fuchsia stuff...blegh. The color is fine, but the smell is just so gross. See, this is what I mean, sometimes E.L.F stuff reveals itself to just be not well made, but sometimes you luck out. I also got one of their "mineral glosses" in "Au Naturale," which is actually pretty similar to the "Miami" color I got, but they were $1.50 at the sale price, so I can't complain.

Onto a few more lip products. I purchased one of their "mineral lipsticks," but I'd have to do more research to find out if any of this stuff is actually made with minerals. It's a great color though, called "Natural Nymph," which reminds me of a MAC lipstick called "Myth," which I like a lot. It's creamy and pigmented. I also got two of the Matte lip color sticks, which I really like. The nude color I got called "Nearly Nude," is really nice and simple, does what it's supposed to. The red color "Rich Red," I'd be more interested to see how that lasted throughout an evening...will update, but it's very nice. I also got one of the $1 (50 cent during the sale) lipsticks, but again, it smells awful, will not be using that one.

The last product I will talk about is this concealer pencil I got. I was fiddling around with it for a bit, and I decided I like it. I don't know if I'd use it every day, but maybe I might if I was in a rush or wanted to try something different. A few companies have these "concealer pencils," like Urban Decay, Art Deco, etc. At first I was apprehensive, but they all seem to have found a way to make the pencil creamy enough that it blends well. I will say that this E.L.F pencil is the least easily blended, but here's why it's cool. The cap for the pencil is ALSO a sharpener! (LOVE!) Also, the other end has a blending brush, which actually seems like pretty good quality. It's a little too small, but I'm into it. I was NOT completely disappointed in this product.

So, to end this long post, a few facts. E.L.F is CHEAP and they do a LOT of sales. If you are tentative, as I was, you can sign up and get emails about different sales, or wait for the really enormous sale to come along. They have improved their packaging recently and have copied brands like NARS and Bare Minerals, and it definitely makes the products more appealing. Give it a shot. I don't know if I'll buy more of this stuff, but I'm glad I did. I will write about my other 20 purchases in the coming days. Eye shadows, cream liners, shimmer palettes, pigments, and falsies, OH MY!

Veronica Garland does Lana Del Ray

Hello, my gorgeous fans! I was so blown away by Lana Del Ray's new music video that I thought I'd do a cover of the song "National Anthem," ESPECIALLY because it's 4th of July. How appropriate! Also, if you haven't seen Lana's video, check it out bellow. It's filled with amazing 60s hair, amazing wigs, nails, clothes, interracial love...ugh it's the best.

Makeup Review: Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick

Hello, my gorgeous, bronzed beauties. It's summer, so I'm always wanting to get my bronze on! I went for this Bobbi Brown shimmer brick because it gets great reviews and has multiple uses. You can swipe your makeup brush through all the colors and get a shimmery bronze color, or you can use these colors separately as eye shadow. I normally don't go for Bobbi Brown because it just seems slightly more expensive than other brands I like more, but everyone talks about these.

I am sorry to say that I didn't find this that shimmery! I applied a LOT and I mostly got a browny, matte look...WEIRD! I even tried swiping my brush mostly on the lightest color to see if that would help...but no...the colors are actually lovely as eye shadow, but I was disappointed in the amount of color and shimmer. Maybe people like this because it's a more subtle shimmer and has a more natural finish? I don't know...if you call something a SHIMMER BRICK it should be REALLY SHIMMERY! Also, it's $40...at least this investment will last a while since I won't be using it much. 

Sparkly makeup MUST HAVE: Lorac Liquid Lustre

Hello, my gorgeous fans! So, as I've told you in the past, one of my favorite things to do is a GLITTER eye, where you put eyelash glue on your eyelid and then spread glitter on it...it will NOT move, BUT it is messy and you may not want to put eyelash glue on your eyelid, but you just want an amazing glittery look. Well, now you can have glittery eyes without the mess! Glitter fallout is the WORST. Lorac 3D Liquid Lustre is a fabulous product that took me a little while to figure out. It comes in a VERY liquidy form and you apply it with a dropper. When I first got it I used WAY too much and couldn't blend it and it creased and I was mystified as to why everyone was so excited about it. 

After almost a year, I found it in my makeup case and gave it another go. I read up online about ways to apply it. The amazing thing about this stuff is that even though it appears white, when spread and blended it is actually just a silvery glitter, and in each drop there is an impossible amount of glitter particles. What I do is apply my base colors first and then I open the container and dip the dropper in...ironically I don't even use the dropper itself, just the side of it, and dap little dots on the area I want to be glittery. Then I take a brush and lightly blend it in. TA DA! Magic glitter eyes! Also, this will NOT change the color of your base shadow, it will only create a top coat of silvery glitter magic, almost making it look like you have real glitter on. They also now make a gold one, which I haven't gotten yet, but will get it as soon as I can get to Sephora. I can only imagine it's the same thing, but with a golden effect as opposed to silver.  Check it out.

P.S: You do NOT need to use a lot of this product. ONE DROP goes a LONG way.

Lindsay trying on costumes for Liz Taylor movie

Hello, gorgeous fans. TMZ posted some pics of Lindsay Lohan trying on costumes for her upcoming Lifetime biopic, Liz and Dick. I am just DYING to see how this is going to happen. I can't think of anyone more wrong for this part, but that's what's going to make the final product SO delicious. Also...Lindsay really can't fill a costume these days...part of Liz Taylor's appeal was that she had sexy, amazing CURVES! She was BUSTING out of this tight, gorgeous, A-line dresses. Hopefully a makeup and hair CREW will make this all a little more believable...but unfortunately, Lindsay has the right in her contract to "approve" all the costumes she wears...big mistake. Sometimes, you have to let other people make you look good. 

Setting Spray update

Hello, gorgeous ones. So, a while back I posted about my favorite setting sprays, etc. I told you all I loved the MAC Fix+ spray and I STILL do, but I wanted to tell you about a new setting spray I found that I think I like even more. It's made by Skindinavia and can be bought here and other places. They come in a few different versions: Moisture lock, for dry skin, anti-Shine, for oily skin, a normal one, and a special one for weddings. Interestingly enough, Skindinavia makes the Urban Decay setting sprays that I have already tried, but I greatly prefer these and find it lighter on the skin and definitely works. Check it out!

Jennifer Lopez at her new movie premiere!

Hello, gorgeous ones! So, JLO was promoting her new movie, What to Expect When You're Expecting, and showed up in this flowy dress by Maria Lucia Hohan. A lot of people have been writing about how they hate it so much and it's matronly, but I actually adore it! I think the color is subtle and pretty, I like the fabric, it is also a dress I would DEFINITELY wear. My real issue is with her makeup. Lining the inner rim of your eyes when you don't have enormous eyes to begin with is just a bad idea, or it should be when you're going for a very specific look. Also, it is SO something teenagers do when they're just learning how to do makeup. What do you think?

What did you think of Lindsay's outfit?

Hello, gorgeous fans. I was noticing this week that there was A LOT of talk on the net about the outfit that Lindsay wore to a A&E "Upfront" event. At first I thought we were all going to be on the same page and agree that she looks like sort of a mess, but then I started reading that there are people who love the actual outfit and think it's her hair and makeup ruining the look. On a second look, I agree that the dress really is pretty, besides the fringy bottom. I could have done without the hooker shoes and would have preferred a simpler pump. As for the hair and makeup...this is just a travesty. WHAT is with the dark eyebrows, nonexistent eye makeup and pale red, long, stringy hair...with a BOBBY PIN?! You're Lindsay Lohan! Wear a pretty ornate clip that would look lovely with the dress if you're going to pin your hair. The eyebrows are just a travesty. I love a thick, dramatic eyebrow, but do it with a fab updo, not with this stringy, mess of a hairstyle. Also, the makeup is lovely makeup, but not on her. The eyes need more definition since she has puffy face from whatever it is she's doing. She needs bottom liner too. Also, make sure your forehead and face are the same color...It's just a mess...::sigh::. I'm almost missing blonde Lindsay, but I'm REALLY missing this Lindsay.

Makeup for Cancer Fighters

Hello, gorgeous fans. If you've been reading my blog, you know that I love the pixiwoo sitters, Samantha and Nicola Chapman. They do fabulous makeup tutorials and Samantha has her own brush line called Real Techniques. Nicola has been doing a series of videos where she'll do makeup on someone who is fighting cancer, talking with them about their struggles and by communicating with them and helping them with their makeup, hopefully making women who are fighting this disease feel empowered and more attractive during a really, REALLY difficult time. I thought the videos were so great and I applaud Nicola for doing them. Check them out!

Best Gel Eyeliners!

Hello, my gorgeous fans! Today I want to talk about some of my favorite (and also least favorite) gel eyeliners. The appeal of gel liner is that you get the look of a liquid liner, but it is easier to work with. Until recently I literally could NOT use a liquid liner to save my life, so I only used gel. Now I actually do a combination of both, sometimes doing a gel liner first and then going over it with the liquid to intensify it! Anyway, back to the products!

One gel liner which is really popular, but I actually don't love, is the Bobbi Brown gel liner. My main complaint about it is that when you get it, it's really great, but I feel even just a WEEK after opening the container, it completely dries out and becomes less intense, even when you wet your brush. I even recall a pixiwoo video where they were doing a tutorial and said they had to buy a new one because there's had dried out so fast. It's actually a GREAT product, I just wish it lasted longer. A gel liner I actually DO like that I actually got into because of the pixiwoo girls is the Clinique gel liner. I've had it for a month now and it is still shockingly moist and applies like a creamy dream and comes with a pretty good brush to apply it.

Another gel liner that is really great is the MAC fluidline gel liner. It doesn't stay AS moist as the Clinique, but it's slightly easier to work with. The Clinique one is almost TOO creamy, like frosting or something (maybe a con?). I've also tried the Smashbox gel liner and I feel like that one dried out as soon as I opened it. Stila has these "smudge pots" that are pretty good and come in multiple colors, but they don't stay as well as the MAC and Clinique. Let me know if you have any gel eyeliners that you love that I didn't mention!

MAC Iridescent Powder

Hello, gorgeous, shimmery fans. I just wanted to do a quick review of a product a really love. It's MAC Iridescent Powder. This powder comes in two shades, "Silver Dusk," for lighter or cooler skin tones, and "Golden Bronze" for when you want to looked bronzed and shimmery or you have a darker skin tone. I absolutely love these powders. Some shimmer powders sit on your skin in a chalky way, but this one is practically like liquid metal on your skin. I will apply all my makeup, powder my face, and then as the last touch I will take a small blending brush and just run this on the top of my cheek bones. It just gives me an edgier, more iridescent glow than something like the Lorac Luminizing Powder. Check it out!

Elizabeth Taylor's Makeup

Hello, my gorgeous fans. I am ALWAYS looking at my favorite celebrity's makeup: in their movies, in photo-shoots, in paparazzi photos, etc, but I think the woman who has one of the most iconic makeup looks of all time is Elizabeth Taylor. I mean, her makeup in Cleopatra (the "historical" epic that brought her and her soon to be hubby, Richard Burton together) basically set the trend for makeup of the 60s. I know the Cleo look is the most popular, but my favorite OVER THE TOP Liz Taylor makeup is in a movie called Doctor Faustus. The movie is the story of Faust, starring Richard Burton as Doctor Faust and Elizabeth Taylor in a silent role as the various love interests of Richard Burton. Anyway, the movie was a flop, but Liz's makeup, hair and costumes were NOT! Her makeup was done by Frank La Rue, who Liz used for a a bunch of her films in the 60s. He also did Marilyn Monroe's makeup in The Misfits. I know it's over the top, but I love it...

Anthony Hopkins as Hitchcock

Hello, my adoring fans! I had heard about this upcoming movie about Alfred Hitchcock, titled Hitchcock,  starring Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren, and was instantly intrigued. It's takes place during the time when Alfred Hitchcock was trying to get the now legendary movie, Psycho, produced. This picture of Anthony Hopkins as the legendary director were recently released and the resemblance is pretty incredible. Will fabulous makeup artists and prosthetics win Oscar Gold for another actor next year? We'll see...

TOO FACED Smokey Eye Palette

Hello, gorgeous, smokey eyed, beauties! Today I want to talk about another Too Faced palette: The Smokey Eye Palette. Like the Natural Eye Palette, this palette is SO usable for night time looks, for every day looks, it's just a product that is SO worth the money. The day colors are really gorgeous. "Firefly" is a beigy, silvery color. This is the only color that I wish applied a little better, but with primer and a few applications it's fine. "Cloves" is a terrific bronzy color. Too Faced does really good bronzy colors in general. "Up in Smoke" is the perfect, smokey, dark brown. I wet this color and use it as eyeliner every day. The Classic colors are also great. "White Lie" is a great silvery white color that applies very well. "Nice Ash" is a great silvery color, which also has the same sort of finish as Cloves, but silvery. "Smokin Hot" is a great matte black color that you can use in any look as liner, the crease, etc. The Fashion colors are great too. "In a Flash" is a shimmery silver that is very pigmented and applies great. "Smoking Jacket" is a gorgeous, gorgeous, purpley-navy color that looks amazing over a the matte black shadow and gives it an awesome texture. "Smolder" is a great matte, dark blue. This palette is just great, I highly recommend it! Check it out on Sephora!

Concealers!

Hello, my beautiful, concealed fans! Today I want to talk under eye CONCEALER! There are so many different concealers on the market and I have invested in a lot of them, but today I am going to talk about a few of the ones I like and maybe one or two I hate. The one I probably use the most is Yves Saint Laurent touché éclat concealer. In the states it is $48, but in Europe, where I currently reside, it is much less expensive (half the price) so I have stocked up here. It comes in a gold dispenser. You click the top and it comes out on the small brush. I applies easily and then I use a blending brush to blend it in. This is why I like this product so much because it blends so easily into your skin, covers your bags, and gives your under eye a glow without glitter (glitter in concealer should be outlawed.)

Another concealer I like is Mac Studio Sculpt concealer. It is very pigmented and stays really well. My only complaint is that it starts out harder than most concealers, so you have to really warm it up on your skin or blend it a lot, but once it is on, it's staying there, especially if you apply powder over it, etc. The Mac Studio Fix concealer is very similar, but applies more like a regular concealer, and is probably a superior product for everyday, I just like the coverage of the Studio Sculpt. Another concealer I like is Benefit Erase Paste. To be honest, this concealer doesn't stay as well as the other two I've mentioned, but with primer and powder, it will stay and it is very pigmented and literally erases flaws. I really liked the Bobbi Brown concealer when I used it a few years back, I just didn't love it enough to spend $32 on it again. Are there any concealers that you guys SWEAR by? Let me know!

Setting Sprays

Hello, gorgeous, makeup loving fans! I want to talk makeup setting sprays. I went years without using these and was often annoyed that by the end of the day, my makeup was almost gone, or just a mess (also partly because I was wearing Bare Minerals, but I'll talk about that another day). Urban Decay released a line of face sprays that are really wonderful. One is called "All Nighter," which does an excellent job of keeping your face in place. Another is "DESlick," which is geared more towards people with oily skin, like myself and then "Dew Me," which is geared more towards dry skin and moisturizes as well as sets your face. I was very into these for a while, but then I discovered the MAC Fix+ setting spray, which I feel holds my makeup the best. Also, the Mac Fix+ has all natural ingredients, while the Urban Decay products have a little but of alcohol in them.  It also has a really pleasant scent and you can use less of it, so it lasts longer. I highly recommend all of these though. Let me know if there are other brands you like!

Wayne Goss=Awesome

Hello, gorgeous ones! I just wanted to take this opportunity to talk a little more about a makeup artist who I just adore: Wayne Goss. I have been viewing his youtube videos for a long time and am an enormous fan. One thing that is so special about him is that he doesn't only do makeup application tutorials, he also does very honest reviews of products and real makeup technique, as well as skincare, etc. He is feisty, gorgeous and extremely talented, AND on top of all that, he recently viewed my little blog and reposted it on his Twitter, so we should all adore him even more for that.
