Mary Testa in Queen of the Mist

Hello, gorgeous ones! One of my favorite actresses/singers of all time is the very underrated Mary Testa. Mary Testa has been performing for years, and actually one of her first big gigs was understudying Liza Minelli in The Rink, where she actually got to do a bunch of performances with Chita Rivera. She has also appeared in shows like In Trousers, Marie Christine, Xanadu, and her two Tony nominated performances in On The Town, and then also for 42nd Street.Although I had admired La Testa from afar, the first time I got to witness her IN THE FLESH was this past winter in Michael John LaChiusa's off-Broadway show, Queen of the Mist. The theater was very small and you could choose your own seat, so I chose to sit within spitting distance of Mary Testa. The show had gorgeous music and fabulous performances, but of COURSE Mary Testa was the true shining star. Her committed acting and raucous, fearless singing was just incredible. It is one of the best performances I have ever seen...ever. Even though the show ran for a short time, THANKFULLY, a cast recording will preserve some of Testa's marvelous performance and the beautiful score. Check out this clip bellow from the studio! MARY TESTA ROCKS!
